Police can now name the man who died in a crash on State Highway 33 near Paengaroa last year.

Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle crash on Wednesday, December 21.

Police say one person died as a result of the crash.

Another was seriously injured and taken to hospital.

In a statement released this morning, police have name 18-year-old Fabien Takerei-Walker, from Rotorua, as the person who died following the crash.

"Police extend their sympathies to his whānau and loved ones," says a police spokesperson.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing."
