Bay of Plenty Regional Council is providing an update on the rahui closure area of Pāpāmoa Hills following a death yesterday.

In a Facebook post, the regional council says the area surrounding Karangaumu Pā, including the summit and trig station will remain closed to visitors until midday on 31 December 2022.

"There is no access between Papamoa Hills and Summerhill at Reid Rd during this time," says the post.

"The rest of the Regional Park will reopen on the morning of 30 December, including tracks to the northern end of the Hills."
