Police are asking for any witnesses to a motorcycle crash in Whitianga on Boxing Day to come forward.

Enquiries into a serious motorcycle crash in Whitianga on Monday which left one person in critical condition are ongoing.

Police were called to the scene of a one vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Cook Drive around 6.40pm on Monday.

One person, in critical condition, was transported to Waikato Hospital by the Waikato Rescue Helicopter.

The road from Cook Drive South Highway end to Joan Gaskell was closed while the Serious Crash Unit investigated the scene of the crash.

Police are asking for any witnesses to the crash to come forward to police and quote police event number P053080836.
