Emergency services are responding to a vehicle crash on State Highway 39, Puketotara involving a heavy motor vehicle.

"The road is closed while an oil spill is cleared," says a police spokesperson.

"Police received a report of a crash at 1.45pm.

"The single occupant of the vehicle is reported to have received minor injuries.

"The road is closed while an oil spill is cleared."

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area and take an alternative route."
