One person has been taken to hospital following a crash near Te Puna in the Western Bay of Plenty this morning.

Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle crash on Te Puna Road at 6.15am.

"The vehicle had collided with a fence and ended up on its side down a small bank," says a police spokesperson.

"It appears there were no serious injuries, however, a man has been transported to hospital."

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
