UPDATE: State Highway 2 is now open.
The road was blocked earlier this morning following a crash between a truck and ute.
A police spokesperson says one person received moderate injuries.
A Tauranga City Council spokesperson says all lanes of the highway are now open.
"Vehicles and debris have been cleared.
"It will take some time for traffic congestion to ease, so delays may be experienced."

Large traffic delays are being reported on State Highway 2, near Bethlehem.
A Tauranga City Council spokesperson says there has been a crash between a truck and a ute on SH2 near the Wairoa River bridge.
"Southeast bound lane is blocked," says the spokesperson.
"Expect significant delays."
"Alternate traffic flow is in place. Emergency services are on scene."
A police spokesperson says there is a two-vehicle crash near Wairoa Bridge.
"It appears one lane is blocked and one person has moderate injuries."

A caller to 0800 SUNLIVE says traffic moving "towards Tauranga" is building up.
"It must not have long happened, I just saw one police car and two fire trucks drive past," says the caller.
