Tauranga police car crashes into power pole

The crash happened in the early hours of this morning.

No injuries have been reported after a police car crashed into a power pole in Tauranga.

The crash happened following a routine traffic stop on Fraser Street.

A police spokesperson says a vehicle failed to stop for police at a routine traffic stop at 12.45am.

'A fleeing driver incident was initiated, as the vehicle turned onto Alverstoke Road, but abandoned seconds later.

'When turning onto Alverstoke Road, the police vehicle has struck a power pole.

'Neither the officer driving nor the passenger were injured.”

Alverstoke Road was briefly blocked by the power pole, but was re-opened.

'Police are conducting enquiries with the driver to understand to circumstances leading to the collision with the power pole.”

Throw the book at him/her. Make them pay insurance excess, and pay for the power pole and repairs. You cop's think you're super human, and above the law. Good experience, learn from it
