Police can now name the person who died in a vehicle crash on SH29 on Friday October 28.

"He was 19-year-old Thomas Pukepuke of Whatawhata, Waikato," says a police spokesperson.

"Our thoughts are with his friends and family."

Due to the serious crash late Friday afternoon near the Kaimai Range Summit, SH29 was closed between SH28, Te Poi and SH36, Tauriko, Tauranga until aboout 10.40pm.

Police say enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
