State Highway 2 between Awakeri and Opotiki has now reopened following a slip this week.

Work commenced on Friday to remove material after the SH2 Waiotahe Beach slip on Wednesday.

Contractors were back on-site on Saturday morning to continue the removal of material.

"The road is now open under stop/go traffic management and is suitable for Heavy Vehicles," says a Waka Kotahi NZTA spokesperson.

"Delays are possible. Pass with care."

Road users are advised to check the Journey Planner (www.journeys.govt.nz) and the Waka Kotahi Waikato and Bay of Plenty social channels for up-to-date information over the long weekend.
