Police have named a Tauranga man as the person who died following a crash in Ashburton.

Emergency services were called to the single vehicle crash on Gardiners Road on Saturday, October 15.

A police spokesperson says the vehicle left the road and collided with a tree.

Five other people were taken to hospital with serious to critical injuries.

In a statement released today, a police spokesperson says they can now release the name of the man who died following the crash.

'He was Jarrod Daniel Karl, 23, of Tauranga.

'Police extend their condolences to his family and friends.

'Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.”
