UPDATE: Police can confirm one person has died following a fatal crash in Te Puke.

Another person has been transported to hospital in a serious condition.

The intersection of Strang Road and Te Puke Highway is closed while an investigation is underway, says a police spokesperson.

"There are diversions in place at the scene.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area."

The crash is at the intersection of Strang Road and Te Puke Highway.

A police spokesperson says it was reported to them around 5.50pm.

"Initial indications suggest there are serious injuries.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area and take alternative routes where able."
