One person has died following a crash in the Bay of Plenty.

Emergency services were called to the two vehicle crash on Galatea Road, Omataroa, at 9.10pm.

The road was closed and diversion were put in place overnight.

A police spokesperson reported that the road is now open.

"An investigation into the crash remains ongoing."
