A large slip is blocking Hamurana Road, Okere Falls.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible or take an alternative route.

The road closures are in place at Humurana Road and Unsworth Road and at Hamurana Road and SH33.

The closures are expected to remain in place overnight.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding while the road is cleared," says a Waka Kotahi NZTA spokesperson.
