Works planned for Turret Rd & Hairini Causeway

Motorists are being advised to expect delays or use an alternative route if possible.

Motorists are being advised to prepare for road repairs works along Turret Road and the Hairini Causeway.

Tauranga City Council is investing in Tauranga's roads to improve safety and performance for all road users, says a council spokepserson.

As part of Council's Minor Safety Works programme, maintenance and repair work is set to begin on along Turret Road and the Hairini Causeway.

This will require 15th Ave and Turret Road (from Burrows Street to and including Turret Road Bridge) to be under stop/go traffic management from 7pm Sunday, October 2.

"Night works will take place between 7pm - 6am, Sunday to Thursday and are estimated to be completed in early November, weather dependent.

"Work includes road resurfacing, replacing damaged footpaths, bridge repairs, tree pruning, and the installation of safety separators along the Hairini Causeway cycleway.

"Motorists should expect delays and use an alternative route if possible.

"Council apologises for any inconvenience this work may cause and thanks the community for their patience during this time."

On a gaping wound that needs a MAJOR operation to fix it. Do it once and do it right - TWO lanes each way and a FOUR lane bridge !!

Absolutely spot on. You can't polish a poo but you can roll it in glitter but at the end it's still a poo. A proper fix is required and as you say that's 2 lanes each way and a 4 lane bridge. Yes the Pohutakawas are beautiful but regardless they will die one day. I'm sure a plan could evolve that includes them to make an absolutely stunning roadway. Not enough thought gone into this temporary 'fix'.
