Police have taken two people into custody following a fleeing driver incident in Ōpōtiki.

"A vehicle was seen by Police around 8.30am and believed to be driven by a man with warrants to arrest," says a police spokesperson.

"Around 10.30am, the occupants of that vehicle failed to stop for Police and rammed a police car.

"The vehicle was followed at road speed under lights and sirens along SH2 until the occupants abandoned the vehicle in Kutarere and ran into the mangroves.

"The pair were taken into custody and will be processed in due course."

They weren't selling raw milk. Bloody idiots thought that need the book thrown at them. I wonder what the courts would charge him if he rammed a civilian? Don't see the difference.
