Tauranga City Council has temporarily reduced the speed of the Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road.
The move is to encourage drivers to slow down to keep Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road work site safe, according to a Tauranga City Council spokesperson.
Tauranga City Council says the speed through the Pāpāmoa East Interchange construction site on the Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road has been reduced from 70km/h to 50km/h.
The speed change "took place from the beginning of this week".
"The site will be monitored closely in collaboration with Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency.
"Once drivers keep to the limit, raising the speed to 70km/h will become an option again.
"The new lower speed is expected to have a minor effect on travel times."
