Emergency services are responding to a two vehicle crash on Tirau Road (SH1), Karapiro.

The crash was reported to police at about 6.50am.

"As a result, a vehicle is on fire and the northbound lane is closed," says a police spokesperson.

"There are no reports of significant injury.

"While traffic is flowing slowly, motorists are asked to avoid the area or expect delays."
