State HIghway 25 between Kuaotunu and Wharekaho has reopened overnight following a large slip.

The road at that location about 5 km north of Cooks Beach has been closed since Monday night with crews working to reopen it as soon as possible.

NZTA Kotahi advise that motorists drive through the area with care, and traffic management is in place.

Due to a large slip, SH25 remains closed between Coromandel and Te Rerenga until further notice.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

"Delay your journey or consider alternative route," says a Waka Kotahi NZTA spokesperson.

There are no detours available.

"Consider using SH25/25A via Tairua and Kopu to Thames."

It is unknown when this section of SH25 will be reopened.
