UPDATE 5.07pm: Pyes Pa Road has now reopened following a two vehicle crash near Mangorewa Gorge.

"Pyes Pa Road has reopened following a two vehicle crash reported to police at 3pm today," says a police spokesperson.

EARLIER 3.55pm Emergency services are attending the scene of a crash on the Rotorua side of Mangorewa Gorge, Pyes Pa Road, SH 36.

"The road is currently closed while the vehicles are towed and diversions are in place," says a police spokesperson.

"Police were notified of a collision involving two vehicles just after 3pm on Tauranga Direct Road, on the Rotorua side of the Mangorewa Gorge.

"Of the four people involved, two have moderate injuries and two have minor injuries."
