There has been a vehicle collision at Mount Maunganui.

A SunLive reader reports that a light truck and car have collided near the intersection of Hewletts Road and Tasman Quay.

"Both drivers are out of their vehicles, and the truck and car are off to the side of the road," says the SunLive reader.

Police say that the crash is a nose-to-tail reported to Police at about 6.30am.

Contractors have been called to clean up some debris.

Motorists are advised to take care and expect traffic delays.
