10.30AM Update: State Highway 33 is now open, but under Stop/Go traffic management.

Earlier, SH33 was closed between Rotorua and Paengaroa due to a slip on the road between Allport Road at Paengaroa and Hamurana Rd at Okere Falls.

Motorists are advised to take care and allow extra time for delays.

Earlier, 6.50AM:

State Highway 33 between Rotorua and Paengaroa is closed due to a slip on the road.

Waka Kotahi NZTA advise motorists that the road is likely to be closed all day.

The slip is between Allport Road at Paengaroa and Hamurana Rd at Okere Falls.

Detours are State Highway 2, State Highway 29A, and State Highway 36.

"The route SH36 for travel between Rotorua and Tauranga is not suitable for HPMV," says a NZTA spokesperson.

"SH33 is likely to be closed most of the day today, Tuesday July 26. Delay your journey or use [an] alternative route."
