UPDATE, 12.26pm: The road at the scene of a crash at the intersection of State Highway 38 and Rerewhakaaitu Road, Rerewhakaaitu is now clear.

Police report that two people sustained moderate injuries in the crash.

"Police thank motorists for their patience," says a Police spokesperson.

Earlier, 11.15am: State Highway 38 is blocked due to a crash.

Emergency services are at the scene of a crash at the intersection of SH38 and Rerewhakaaitu Road, Rerewhakaaitu in the Bay of Plenty.

Police were called about 10.40am.

"Injuries are unclear at this stage," says a Police spokesperson.

Police advise that the road is currently blocked and motorists should avoid the area.
