A sunk launch has been recovered in Ōmokoroa today, which was previously a ‘navigation hazard' to those in the area.

A witness tells SunLive the boat had sunk ‘earlier this week.'

Bay of Plenty Regional Council Harbourmaster Jon Jon Peters says that the harbourmaster team was on site today to observe the recovery of the launch to ensure the navigation hazard was removed from the water.

'We were not directly involved with the operation,” says Jon Jon.

'The team were notified that the launch may have sunk earlier in the week, and once this was confirmed they notified the owner who arranged today's recovery.”
