One person has died following a crash on Paterangi Road, near Te Awamutu on Sunday evening.
The crash, involving a car and a van, was reported to Police at 5.50pm.
"The driver of the van was critically injured and passed away at the scene," says a Police spokesperson.
"The driver of the car was uninjured."
Diversions were put in place and the road remained closed for some time.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are under way.
