There has been a motorcycle crash on State Highway 25 between Whangamata and Waihi.

The crash occurred about 2pm, about four kilometres southwest of Whiritoa.

"Police are responding to a single motorcycle crash on SH25 near Golden Valley Road," says a Police spokesperson.

"One person is being airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.

"The road is currently closed with diversions in place while emergency services attend the scene."

Waka Kotahi NZTA advise that due to the crash on SH25 between Whiritoa Rd and Golden Valley Rd, motorists need to expect delays and pass the scene with care.

"Follow directions of emergency services onsite,' says an NZTA spokesperson.
