It's time to find those outfits that haven't been worn in months, appliances you never use, or books you've already read and donate them – giving them a second chance to do some good – this time in the form of hospice care.

Waipuna Hospice is calling on the community's help, saying their charity shops are in desperate need of donated goods to help them care for their patients and patients' families.

"Our charity shops exist to turn your second-hand items into first-class palliative care - a mission that is at risk as we are struggling to find enough stock to keep our shelves full,"' says a Waipuna Hospice spokesperson.

"We are desperate for donations and need your help.'

Waipuna are calling for anything from clothing and furniture, to homewares, books, décor, and more.

"These second hand goods are sold in our six charity shops across the Western Bay of Plenty, and the money raised helps us care for people in our community facing death and dying.

"Whether you're spring cleaning, downsizing homes, relocating, or just need to clear some space, please donate your unwanted items to us."

Waipuna says it can be hard to make it to their shops to donate.

"That's why we have a free collection service, where we come to you to collect donations from your doorstep. It makes donating to our shops even easier. Simply call 07 281 1755 and book a collection time that suits - free of charge."

Donations can also be dropped at their Depot on Brook Street, behind the Waipuna Fraser Street Shop, or into any of their six charity shops during opening hours.

"Please help. Even one donation can make the world of difference to someone who is dying or dealing with the death of a loved one."
