UPDATE 3.23PM: Police can confirm one person has died following the serious crash in Rotorua.

Emergency services were alerted to the two-vehicle crash on Te Ngae Road near Rotokawa Road at around 12.40pm, says a police spokepserson.

The road remains closed.

Police are at the scene of a serious crash on Te Ngae Road near Rotokawa Road, Rotorua.

Emergency services were alerted at around 12.40pm, says a police spokesperson.

"The road is closed and could be for sometime.

"We want to remind motorist that there could be significant delays especially leading into school pick up time."

The detour route is as follows: Detour via SH33, Hamurana Rd, SH36, SH5 then SH30A.
