There has been a two-vehicle collision on State Highway 29A with Maungatapu Bridge now blocked.

Police received a report of a two-vehicle collision on SH29A at 3.48pm.

The crash has caused both lanes to be blocked.

It is unknown at this stage if there are any injuries.

A SunLive reader says that the Mangatapu Bridge is completely blocked, and traffic is backed up.

"Fire and ambulance are attending the scene," says the SunLive reader.

Motorists are advised to take care in the area and to expect traffic delays.
