UPDATED 1.57PM: One person has been seriously injured and another has sustained minor injuries following a crash in Katikati.

Emergency services were called to the crash on State Highway 2/Main Road around 12.15pm.

A police spokepserson says the vehicles had crashed and two people were injured.

A St John spokesperson says they responded one ambulance to the crash.

"We assessed and treated one patient with serious injuries who was transported to Tauranga Hospital, and one patient with minor injuries who was treated at the scene."

The road was blocked for a time while emergency services dealt with the crash scene.

NZTA report the road is now clear.

EARLIER:

A crash is reported to be blocking State Highway 2/Main Road, in Katikati.

NZTA reports that due a crash, lanes are blocked near Fairview Rd in Katikati.

"Pass the scene with care and be prepared for some delays."

Emergency services are currently dealing with the crash.
