Update 5.04pm: Traffic is now moving again near the intersection of Cambridge Road on State Highway 29 in Tauriko, according to a Tauranga City Council spokesperson.

"The road is now open," says ta Tauranga City Council spokesperson.

EARLIER, 3.23pm:

Emergency services are responding to a crash on State Highway 29.

"Due to a crash, the intersection of State Highway 29 and Cambridge Road in Tauriko is blocked. Delay your journey or consider using an alternative route if possible," says a New Zealand Transport Agency spokesperson.

"There is a report of a motor vehicle accident on SH29 between Cambridge Road and SH29/36 roundabout," says a Tauranga City Council spokesperson.

"The road is partially blocked due to vehicles stopped on the side of the road."

"Motorists should expect delays if travelling through this area."
