Road reopen following Gate Pa motorcycle crash

UPDATE 2.28pm: Traffic is now flowing slowly on Clarke Street according to Google Maps.

One person is in serious condition following an accident involving a motorcycle in Gate Pa, according to a St John spokesperson.

"Two ambulences responded to the scene, one patient has been treated and transported to Tauranga hospital in serious condition," says a St John spokesperson.

EARLIER:

Emergency services are attending reports of a motorcyclist being hit by a vehicle on the intersection of Clarke Street and Laurence Street.

A police spokesperson says that one person is reported to have serious injuries.

"Police were notified of a crash on Clarke St/Laurence St North shortly before midday," says the police spokesperson.

"The crash involved a motorcycle and another vehicle."

"One person is reported to have serious injuries."

A witness to the event says that the motorcyclist looks to be injured, and there is a road closure in place.

"Ambulance is there, it looks like he has a broken leg," says the witness.

"The roads are currently closed, we can't get through."

The witness says that the traffic seems to be building up.

"The bike looks to be a write off that's for sure."
