Diversions in place for Te Maunga intersection

North Bound Traffic is being diverted via Truman Lane to Sandhurst and South Bound from SH2 onto Sandhurst and back to Truman Lane to SH29A. File photo.

A barrier arm malfunction at the Te Maunga Intersection is causing traffic delays in the area.

A Tauranga City Council spokesperson says the barrier arms are not lifting and vehicles cannot use the State Highway 29A/State Highway 2 intersection.

"North Bound Traffic is being diverted via Truman Lane to Sandhurst and South Bound from SH2 onto Sandhurst and back to Truman Lane to SH29A.

"Expect delays and consider using alternate route."

An New Zealand Transport Agency spokesperson says the barrier arms are down but there is no train coming.

"We have contacted KiwiRail and a signaller is on their way.

"Kiwrail has stopped any trains on the line until problem resolved."
