Police are naming a Bay of Plenty man as the person who died in a crash in the weekend.
Emergency services were called to the crash, involving a motorcycle, on State Highway 30, Awakeri, at around 5.30pm on Saturday.
Sadly, the motorcyclist died at the scene, says a police spokesperson.
'He was 65-year-old Martin John McConnachie of Whakatane.”
The highway was closed for several hours, while the serious crash unit examined the scene.
'The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.”
