Bay of Plenty Rugby has announced that it has opened applications for its staff Community Giveback Days.

This concept sees BOPRU staff assisting local community projects as a part of the Union's increased focus on staff wellbeing.

Staff will offer up their labour to help selected community projects throughout the Bay of Plenty. This collaboration also hopes to foster relationships between the Union and its community and strengthen staff/community ties.

Bay of Plenty Rugby Union Chairman Scott Kahle is proud to see the Giveback Days finally come to life.

"We are rapt to finally launch this initiative," says Scott.

"We aim to do three Giveback Days this year. We call on any community organisation, not just Rugby Clubs to apply for some help with their project.

'Rugby relies on the goodwill and generosity of many businesses and volunteers from clubs and schools and this is a small way for us to repay the community.

"We want to make this an easy process to apply, and our Presidents Group will help us come to a decision."

The Presidents Group are key in this process. Their members are all active around the Bay of Plenty and have their ear to the ground where some mahi will be best needed, says Scott.

Applications are now open with the deadline for applications for our first Giveback Day is Monday May 16.

More information can be found on the BOPRU website.
