Air and sea search resumed for missing fisherman

A search has resumed on Sunday for a missing fisherman in Torere, near Opotiki.

Police were advised at 4pm on Saturday that a person had failed to return from a fishing trip as expected earlier that afternoon.

Police Search and Rescue and Coastguard conducted a search yesterday and the search has recommenced this morning.

Opotiki and Whakatane Coastguards along with the surf clubs and inflatable rescue boats from both areas have been deployed to search in the Torere area.

A small aircraft is will also be participating in the search today.

Police say that the man has not been located at this time.
