Two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash near Te Puke.

Police report that there has been a crash on the Te Puke Highway west of Maketu Road.

It is understood that a person has come off a motorcycle and then been hit by another motorcycle.

Two people have been transported to hospital with serious injuries.

A detour has been in place with traffic building up following the crash.
