A single car crash at Pāpāmoa resulting in five people being injured is under investigation.

One person has suffered serious to critical injuries following a traffic incident at Pāpāmoa on Saturday night.

Police received a report of a serious single vehicle crash on Pāpāmoa Beach Road involving a car and a fence just before 1am.

Police say that five people were involved in the crash.

Three ambulances were sent to the scene.

One person was initially trapped and once removed was taken to hospital with serious to critical injuries.

Two people sustained moderate injuries and the remaining two had minor injuries.

"The circumstances of the crash are under investigation," says a Police spokesperson.
