A two car crash is being reported on Te Puke Highway.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says two vehicles have crash in the highway, near the Maketu turn-off.

People are being warned to expect delays in the area.

A police spokesperson says police were advised just after 6pm that two cars had collided on Te Puke Highway, near the intersection with Showgrounds Road.

"Two people have minor injuries.

"The intersection is blocked and there is a lot of oil and debris on the road apparently.

"Towing in on the way, and contractors have been requested to assist with clean-up."
