Stop/go conditions will be in place on one of the main roads in Welcome Bay this week.

Roading contractors will be undertaking ashpault surfacing work, starting tomorrow.

Tauranga City Council says the surfacing work will take place between Kaitemako Road and James Cook Drive.

The works are scheduled for Tuesday to Thursday, and then again from Sunday, March 20, to Thursday, March 24, from 6pm to 6am.

Council says digital signs will be in place from today.

"As the site will be under stop/go conditions allow additional time for your travels," says a council spokesperson.

"Some noise nuisance and vibration from heavy machinery may be experienced. Avoid parking on this street during the surfacing work period.

"Fulton Hogan Ltd has been contracted by Council to carry out surfacing in this area.

"This work is part of Council's annual roading programme, improving road safety and investing in our roading assets."
