One person has died after a car hit a power pole in Tauranga during the early hours of the morning, according to police.
The single-vehicle crash happened on Maunganui Road with police notified just after 2am.
'The car was found to have collided with a power pole and the driver, the single occupant, died at the scene,” says a police spokesperson.
The police investigation into the cause of the crash is now ongoing.

Stop referring to things in the Mount as being in Tauranga. It is simply factually incorrect plus it is demeaning to Mounties. Thank you.
