What's that annoying bird call really early in the morning? How many voice boxes does a tui have? Do you think you have a tui, or a bellbird, or a myna in your garden?

These are some of the questions that a Bay of Plenty bird expert plans to answer in a live webinar on Sunday evening.

Paul Cuming from Western Bay Wildlife Trust and Birds BOP will be giving a live talk on how to recognise many of New Zealand's birds species.

The 40 minute webinar, hosted by Sustainable Backyards Bay of Plenty, is part of a month of enviromentally-themed events being held throughout the Bay of Plenty.

Paul's webinar will include images and sounds of some of NZ's most confusing native and introduced birds.

"Depending on where you live, there could be up to 30 species of birds visiting the area," says Paul. "The aim of the webinar is to help you recognise whether you have a bird species which is common, or a less common bird."

Topics covered in the Bird Call ID Workshop webinar include birds at night, mimics of the bird world, and how many voice boxes does a tui have.

The Zoom webinar which runs from 7pm - 8pm on Sunday March 6, requires an RSVP first by signing up here .

Each year during the month of March, Envirohub brings the opportunity to connect, learn and inspire with events across the Bay of Plenty Regions – The Western Bay, Eastern Bay, and Rotorua District.

The programme aims to improve the wellbeing and quality of life of people in the community via informative workshops and activities.

"This year we're back again to promote better, more sustainable living, for everyone," says an Envirohub Bay of Plenty spokesperson.

"With the new and exciting app you can access the month-long virtual calendar, full of workshops, guides, live kōrero sessions and more.

"Check out our competition page, there are various challenges to complete such as ‘Backyard Bingo' and ‘Find The Mascot' to go in the draw to win some prizes."

The tui has two voice boxes. If they only had one they'd be called a onei :) Have a brilliant webinar! xo
