UPDATE: Tauranga Eastern Link is now clear following a two-car crash.

The eastbound lane of the highway between Bell Road and the Kaituna River Bridge was completely blocked earlier this afternoon.

Tauranga City Council reports the crash scene is now clear.

"Emergency vehicles and Roading Crew are still in the immediate area.

"Exercise caution passing the scene."

One lane of the Tauranga Eastern Link is blocked following a two car crash.

Tauranga City Council is advising the eastbound lane of the highway between Bell Road and the Kaituna River Bridge is completely blocked.

A police spokesperson says the two car crash occurred around 3.45pm and police, fire and emergency and St John ambulance are at the scene.

The advice from council is people travelling east should expect delays and to delay travel if possible or use Te Puke Highway as an alternate route.
