Powerco says about more than 30,000 people lost power on Sunday.

According to WeatherWatch.co.nz, a ridge of high pressure pushes in over the South Island today.

A southerly airflow is also expected over the north. Temperatures have started off at 14 degrees in the Bay of Plenty this morning, but are expected to rise to 23.
