Police can confirm one person has sadly died following a multi-vehicle crash on State Highway 1 at Lichfield, south of Putaruru.
The crash, involving a car, a campervan and a milk tanker, was reported to emergency services just after 9.20pm, says a police spokesperson.
"One person in the car died at the scene.
"Two other people were transported to hospital with serious injuries.
The road is now open.

another sad outcome. was this another case of travelling too fast and too close
