Pukehina boat ramp closes for upgrades

The Pukehina boat ramp will close to the public from next week to allow for upgrades.

The boat ramp off Pukehina Parade next to Ororoa Reserve will close from Monday, September 20, for up to eight weeks to allow for construction works to be completed.

The nearest all tide boat ramp is at Otaiparia Reserve beside the Kaituna River, accessed via Ford Road, Maketu. The boat ramp at Park Road Reserve, Maketu, is also available subject to the tide.

"We appreciate that the timing is not ideal, however, consenting requirements and the recent Alert Level 4 lockdown has pushed the construction timing out," says Western Bay of Plenty District Council's Reserves and Facilities Projects and Assets Manager Scott Parker.

"The contractor will be doing their best to get the new ramp in place ready for the summer."

Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause to local boaties.
