Baye Jacobs will play in the Farah Palmer Cup for the 50th time in her career today as the Volcanix play Waikato in a crucial FPC home derby.

Debuting back in 2014, Baye is currently playing in her sixth season with the Volcanix and remains a highly respected and valued member of the side.

"Fifty caps is a massive achievement in FPC rugby," says Volcanix Head Coach Rodney Gibbs.

"There are a limited amount of games per year, so it shows her longevity in the game and this achievement is something she should be proud of."

The Volcanix have had a slow start to their season with back-to-back losses v Auckland and Counties Manukau.

However, with players gradually returning from injury and the impressive growth of their younger players, the side is hopeful that it's only a matter of time before more positive results follow.

Come today, there is no sugar-coating the reality that a win is crucial to keep any chances of a playoff spot alive.

"In the context of the season, a reasonable amount is riding on this game," says Rodney.

"Add in the fact that we are playing at Blake Park, plus the rivalry with Waikato and the Battle of the Kaimais, preparing to be best of our ability has been essential. The girls understand what's at stake."

The game kicks off from 2.05 pm on Blake Park field No.1 with free ground entry for all spectators.
