SH29 is partially closed following a serious two car crash this evening.

The traffic collision is located in the region of Hinuera and the road is closed between Totman Rd and Hopkins Rd.

'This looks to be a two car crash which was reported just before 7pm,” says a police spokesperson.

Police have confirmed that police, ambulance and fire are in attendance.

'Due to a serious crash, the road is closed between Totman Rd and Hopkins Rd,” reads a statement from Waka Kotahi/NZ Transport Agency.

'Motorists are advised to follow the directions of emergency services on scene and allow extra time for their journey.”

Waka Kotahi/ NZTA advises a northbound detour by turning right onto Totman Rd, turning left onto SH27.

The southbound detour is detailed as at SH27/SH29 intersection, continue onto SH27, turn right onto Totman Rd and turn left onto SH29.
