Hundreds of students are expected to turn up to Bay of Plenty Polytechnic's Open Day today for 'a taste of campus life”.
Marketing manager Maggie Hope says at least 700 local secondary students will attend the open day at the polytechnic's Windermere Campus on Windermere Drive.
A number of events, activities and information sessions are planned for the students, including a mechanical bull, hairdressing, a DJ and the chance to create their own wax hands.
'It sounds a little creepy but I bet students will love it.”
Maggie says it will be a fun, active day for the students as well as an opportunity to learn more about career options.
'It's a chance for students to find out what's on offer both at the polytechnic and at the university here.”
There will also be tours to the Bongard Centre on Cameron Road and the new road transport and distribution warehouse in Greerton.
The open day will run from 9.30am to 2.30pm.

I visited the PolyTech Open Day to get information for students I teach. What a brilliant presentation on campus! Friendly staff, clear instructions, maps, hand outs and open visits to tutor rooms available. Thank you! Students attending seemed engaged and was fun too!
