A number of keen fisherman are spending the next four days in the hunt for a prize winning fish.

The Stoney Creek 2021 One Base tournament began with a shot gun start just off of Mount Main Beach this morning.

The site of all the boats lined up in the water drew the attention of members of the public, who were a little bit unsure about what was going on.

"The tournament is being run under strict level 2 guidelines by Tauranga Sport Fishing Club in partnership with Stoney Creek and is supported by a wide range of local businesses," says a spokesperson for the tournament.

"The event is awesome for the local community of the Bay of Plenty and involves four days of good fun out on the water with friends on the open seas taking on some of the biggest Apex predators of the ocean!

"Stoney Creek is so proud to be involved as a brand and has sponsored each fisherman with a new Apex Cooling Hoodie from the brand new Stoney Creek Sport Fishing series.

"Make sure to tune in to the Stoney Creek NZ and Tauranga Sport Fishing Club Facebook pages to get in on the action over the coming days!"
