Truth trumps fear

When Maori agreed to a peaceful transition of power and signed the Treaty of Waitangi they neither relinquished their racial identity nor their right to political representation.

Mike Lally suggests they did [The Weekend Sun, January 15, 2021]. He also falsely aligns our democratically elected minister of Local Government with some of the most despicable tyrants of modern times, and in true Trumpian style suggests that equal political representation for our Treaty partners is in some way a privilege that is denied to those of us who already possess it.

Perhaps Mr Lally and the so called Hobsons Pledge group should take note of the current rejection of extreme Trump like misinformation and concentrate more on truth over fear.

There is no 'partnership' in the treaty, Fact! People can fantasise all they like but it is the Gov't that pushes a partnership with those that relate to being Maori, this could be overturned instantly by another gov't, another thing people forget is the Waitangi tribunals findings are not lawfully binding and this separatist institution is long past its used by date, people need to understand that now we have a grievance industry not a grievance process !

Crazyhorse The Treaty of Waitangi Act has been NZ law since 1975, so you are 45 years out of date. The Act set up the Waitangi Tribunal to provide official interpretation of the Treaty as a partnership between the Government and Maori. That is fact. You are deluding yourself.

Partnership,

the act of forming an association of two or more people. No matter how often you deny it crazy, the fact remains Maori and your representatives entered an association, therefore a partnership exists. It is NZ law endorsed by all governments since the " great awakening" The rest of your denialism and insult is simply waffle.
